04:45 am - What is it to be Filipino
In the interest of research for an article I am writing, I would like to know what you all would consider the characteristics of being Filipino. What does it mean to say someone is "a good Filipino"? Or s/he is "very Filipino"? What characteristics would you list as national ideals or fundamental values of Filipino culture?

(Moderately x-posted, my apologies if you see it in more than one place.)

12:10 am - (fic: Harry Potter) Sea Call Burn (Ron, gen, Philippines)
*insert HP-hype* I wrote this fic a little more than a year ago for a challenge in omniocular (a gen Harry Potter fic site) for their February 2006: "anywhere but here" challenge. One gets to choose a place and write/draw the HP characters in that area. I, of course, chose the Philippines.

Title: Sea Call Burn
Author: osmalic
Rating: G
Length: 4,200~ words
Characters: Ron Weasley, OCs (Harry, Hermione, Bill, Weasleys, Grangers)
Warning: obscure geography, OCs
Summary: In the land with no identity, Ronald Weasley is looking for something.
Note: Very special shout-out thanks to ureima and wicked_sister who immensely helped as beta and for sticking with me even when I was giving up. Thank you to dizilla for inspiring this in the first place. All mistakes are mine. The characters, however, are not mine; they are JKRowling's. Except the Filipino characters and Rizal.

Challenge: omniocular's February Challenge: "anywhere but here"
Location: Philippines
Current Music: Cynthia Alexander - Empty Handed

01:16 am - newbie fic post: La Día de Días (Noli me Tangere)
First post here! I wrote a Noli me Tangere fic for Rizal Day 2006, and thought I might share.

Title: La Día de Días
Fandom: Jose Rizal's Noli me Tangere (now public domain)
Characters: canon
Rating: R
Word Count: 400
Warnings: Priest-bashing, Catholic-bashing, sex, and whatever else Rizal talked about in the book.
Notes: Four drabbles (100 words each). For Rizal Day 2006, on the day of his execution 110 years ago. And please forgive the wrangled Spanish. If the grammar is wrong in any way, I'll change it. I relied on someone who knew how to speak Spanish fluently a long time ago, but I'm not sure if he's still sane.

Summary: Midday, dusk, midnight, dawn are just parts of it.

( after the death of a boatman )
